Electric golf carts are one of the most popular options for estates, golf courses, resorts, schools, warehouses and private properties.

When buying a used electric golf cart, don't evaluate the cart on appearance alone.

Ask about:

• Battery type

• Battery condition

• Charger

• Charging requirements

• Vehicle condition

• Model and year

• Included accessories

Some carts may use traditional lead-acid batteries while others may be fitted with lithium battery systems.

Battery specifications should always be confirmed for the individual cart before purchasing.

What to Check Before Buying a Used Golf Cart

Before purchasing any second-hand golf cart, consider:

1. Battery condition

Especially important for electric models.

2. Overall mechanical condition

Check the condition of the specific vehicle being purchased.

3. Tyres

Consider remaining tyre life and whether replacement may soon be required.

4. Brakes and steering

These should form part of evaluating the cart's operating condition.

5. Charger

For electric carts, confirm that the appropriate charger is supplied.

6. Seating capacity

Choose the number of seats based on how the cart will actually be used.

7. Intended application

A cart for a private estate may have different requirements from a utility cart used at an industrial facility.

8. Accessories

Confirm what is actually included with the advertised cart.
